Four essential things for
those who serve the Lord
2 Kings 4:10
(NKJV) Please, let us make a small upper room on the
wall; and let us put a bed for him there, and a table
and a chair and a lampstand; so it will be, whenever he
comes to us, he can turn in there."
The four
things a bed, a table, a chair, and a lampstand the
shulamite woman provided for the prophet Elisha is a
picture of the four things every one who serves the Lord
needs.
1. The bed: The symbol of rest which is
found in Jesus Christ. Matthew 11:28 (NKJV) Come to
Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will
give you rest.
And Jesus said to them, "I am the
bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger,
and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. John 6:35
(NKJV)
2. The Table: The symbol of fellowship
with Him Psalms 23:5 (NKJV) You prepare a table
before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my
head with oil; My cup runs over.
3. The chair:
is the symbol of instruction from Christ , for we must
sit at His feet and learn from Him and worship Him.
Deuteronomy 33:3 (NKJV) Yes, He loves the people; All
His saints are in Your hand; They sit down at Your feet;
Everyone receives Your words.
And she had a
sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus' feet and
heard His word. Luke 10:39 (NKJV)
4. The
lampstand: is the symbol of testimony for Christ, for we
are the light of the world. Matthew 5:14 (NKJV) You
are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill
cannot be hidden.
Acts 1:8 (NKJV) But you shall
receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you;
and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in
all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth
