A year of renewal
(by Eden Thomas)

The New Year is a great time to renew your relationship with the Lord. Reading the Bible and praying are two extremely important things to do in your Christian life. Many people think that reading the Bible is simply to learn about stories and events that happened in the past, but it is also essential in building your faith, and you need this very faith to have effective prayers. These are the foundations of a successful Christian life, and during this new year that the Lord has given us, make a conscious effort to strengthen these aspects of your life. Spend more time reading His word and talking to Him in prayer, and you will see blessings shower your life throughout 2010.

In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.  1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NKJV)

We Are Called Priests
I Peter 2:5, Rev. 1:5-6, I Peter 2:9
a. The Bible does not teach that priests are a certain class in the church.
b. Every child of God is a priest.

According to the Law of Moses, there are two classes of priests.
c. The High Priest – Type of Christ
d. The Common Priest – Type of Christian
e. The problem with these priests is that they are human and they often fail or die and a new priest must be elected.
f. There will never be a change in our High Priest, for Christ will forever dwell at the right hand of God.

Many are called, but few are chosen. Matthew 22:4
g. As a priest, you are called for His service. Heb 10: 19-22
h. We are consecrated – separated as priests. Jewish priests were consecrated when they entered their work. Exo 29, Lev 8.

We are clothed.
i. The common priests were dressed in white linen with a girdle around the waist and a bonnet on the head.
j. The Christian is distinguished by his or her dress (appearance), but it is not the outward dress.
k. Rev. 7:9, 19:8 Christians should be clothed with white robes. Righteousness

We are commissioned – Worship & Service.
Jewish Priests had duties to perform and blessings to enjoy.
l. Heb 13:15-16 Christians as priests also have duties to perform and blessings to enjoy.

From the Pastor

Forgiveness

As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. As a father pities his children, so the LORD pities those who fear Him. Ps 103:12-13 (NKJ)

East and west can never meet. This is a perfect picture of God's forgiveness. When He forgives our sin, He separates it from us and doesn't even remember it. He removes our sins completely and cares for His people as a good father cares for his children. The fact that God remembers who we are and how He made us is another mark of His mercy, for we are dust. If we are to follow God, we must model his forgiveness by forgiving others.
